Noosa Festival of Surfing

Noosa Festival of Surfing is one of the top events on the Sunshine Coast. The best Surfers from around the globe descend on Noosa every March to participate in the festival. The festival is not just about surfing, there are also long board themed movie nights, beach parties, surfing memorabilia auctions and the best live surf music in Australia!
Noosa Blue Water Swim
Held in May
Each May swimmers take part in one of the best ocean swims in Australia – The Noosa Blue Water swim. You can partake in either a 2km, 1km or 500m swim of open ocean swimming in the crystal clear waters of Noosa. Beautiful Tea Tree Bay is the starting point whilst the finishing point is Noosa Main Beach.
Noosa May Fiesta

The Noosa May Fiesta is a whole series of exciting Noosa festivals scattered throughout towns on the Sunshine Coast. The first of these is the Noosa Food & Wine Festival which attracts food lovers to Noosa to taste and explore the best Australian produce. You can take a class or simply sit back and enjoy fantastic dishes cooked by world class chefs. Enjoy Rock ’n’ Tewantin which celebrates the 1950’s and 60’s with 10 days of rock’n roll competitions and concerts plus 10 pin bowling nights.
Noosa Riverfest Regatta
The Noosa Riverfest Regatta is three full days of fishing, sailing & family entertainment held by the river at Gympie Terrace in Noosaville. There are a number of fishing competitions plus the kids can enjoy a fishing clinic to learn from the masters. There are lots of activities to keep the family entertained including watching bands and strolling through market stalls. There are a number of regattas held over the course of the festival, rowing competitors have their own regattas on the river, while the car park of the Noosa Yacht and rowing Club becomes a boat show where you can see the latest boats on display for purchase, or sit on the deck and take in the sites and enjoy the warm weather.
Noosa Long Weekend

The Noosa Long Weekend is all about bringing culture to Noosa; celebrate the diversity of art through the best opera, food, drama fashion and film. The festival is held over 10 days in June and the most talented actors, authors, playwrights, directors, speakers and artists from all around Australia hold course at many of the Sunshine Coast restaurants, galleries and public spaces. Previous years have seen Thomas Keneally, Bryan Brown, Marina Prior and Peter Carey contribute to the Noosa arts with their attendance.
Open Tennis Tournament
Held 18 – 20 June
The 2nd annual Open Tennis Championship will take place at the Hyatt Regency Coolum from the 18th to the 20th of June. Four men’s and ladies events will take place over the weekend with a $5,000 prize up for grabs!
A Taste of Coolum
Held 25 – 27 June
A series of themed dinners hosted by some of Australia’s most renowned winemakers will showcase some of the best wines from Australia and the world. Meet the people behind the wine at the Winemakers Cup Golf Day and round off the weekend at Chefs Alfresco, the Sunshine Coast’s favourite afternoon of wine tasting and culinary temptations.
Noosa Half Marathon
Held in August
This 21km fun is over 2 laps of flat circuit throughout Noosa. The course starts at Noosa Sound and goes through Gympie Terrace. There is also a 10km single lap circuit plus a 5km walk/run. The race has a broad range of categories from wheelies, to under 18 and over 80’s, so everybody can enjoy the fun. All roads are closed to ensure that no cars bother runners.
Noosa Jazz Festival
Held 2- 5 September
Over 90 Jazz sessions are hosted in 30 Noosa restaurants as well as some outdoor venues. There is a mix of free or ticketed performances on offer. Noosa Jazz ranges from swing, funk, dixie, traditional and R&B which will suit all ages and tastes. The festival attracts renowned jazz musicians such as Bob Barnard, Graeme Bell and Andrew Swann.
Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival
27 – 31st October 2010
The Noosa Triathlon is one of the biggest triathlon events in Australia and attracts over 8,000 competitors to the area. The course includes a 1,500m swim, a 40km cycle and a 10km run. It takes place at the Noosa Heads Lions Triathlon Park and the run meanders through Noosa Sound leading back to Noosa.
Coolum Events
Australian PGA Championship
Held 9 – 12 December
The Australian PGA Championship is held at the Hyatt Regency Coolum golf course between the 9th and 12th of December. The golf course was designed by the renowned Robert Trent Jr and has rolling land type holes that run beside the Pacific Ocean with woodland holes set in eucalyptus trees and rainforest. Go along and see the greats of Australian golf in action!
